Karen Nagy, Music Director at Unity Light of the World, wears several hats outside of church. In the academic world, she is a long-time adjunct professor of voice and musical theatre at MDC-North Campus; she also taught sight-singing, theory and directed ensembles at New World School of the Arts and at Nova Southeastern University.

She is a sought-after vocal coach as well, with many former students attending leading universities such as Princeton, Cincinnati Conservatory of Music, and FSU.

In the theatre world, she is a well-known musical theatre actress and singer, but currently "performs" more often in the orchestra pit, having played keyboards for theatre venues throughout the tri-county region. Currently she is music director/conductor for "The Sisters of Swing" at the 26th St. Playhouse (Stage Door Theatre) in Wilton Manors.

She was music director for several incarnations of the long-running comedy "Menopause the Musical," both in Coral Gables and at the Miniaci Center in Davie.

Karen was Music Director for 8 years at Unity of Hollywood. She has a Master of Music degree from the University of Miami and Bachelor of Science degrees in Music and Biology from the University of Pittsburgh. She is a member of Actors' Equity Association, NATS (National Association of Teachers of Singing), and NSAI (Nashville Songwriters' Association).

Karen resides in Oakland Park with cats Lady Thiang and Dot, and shepherd/golden mix Annie.
